The Sheriff of Washington County is Jeffrey J. Murphy. Sheriff Murphy is ultimately responsible for the administration of the Counties Jail. The Jail Administrator is Eugene McKenna. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department website, in 2012 a total of 1,263 people were booked into the facility on various charges from all sources. Of those,1,037 were males and 226 were females. The jail has over 5,000 visitors per year.
